Don't be crude vs. don't be rude

Hi, what is the difference between these phrases:

Don’t be rude!
Don’t be crude!

Thanks and have a good Sunday evening.
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

Rude has the idea of being impolite. It’s considered rude for a man for example not to stand up if he is introduced to a woman.
Crude has the idea of being tasteless often in humour, of being unrefined in the sense of oil or being primitive in the way of a piece of equipment that has been put together in an amateurish manner.
