Our modern life has been greatly enriched by movies and TV programs, thanks to the development of science and technology in the past decades. Perhaps some people prefer domestic movies and TV programs, while others are keen on those things made in other countries. In my opinion, I think both the domestic and foreign movies as well as TV programs are interesting, and they just have their own advantages.
On the one hand, it should be noticed that those movies and TV programs made in our own country can bring us the sense of warm, because the plots and roles are so familiar to us, especially under some certain circumstances. For example, one of my friends who studied in Australia told me that she preferred to watch the TV channels of hometown rather than the local ones in order to get the latest news or interesting anecdotes; perhaps the most important is to relieve the homesick when she was in a strange country alone. Also, we are interested in the domestic movies and TV programs usually because we can easily find out the amusing points in them, which have may something to do with our cultural background.
On the other hand, some individuals prefer to the movies and TV programs made in other countries for other understandable reasons. First, those foreign ones provide us with more opportunities to learn about the real life in distant countries–their languages, customs, cultures and so forth. People are always curious about those strange things, and they can be satisfied a lot through watching interesting movies and TV programs from foreign countries. Moreover, it should be admitted that some movies and TV programs made in other countries are more attractive than domestic ones, owing to their advanced technology. For example, no one can deny the fact that the movies produced by Hollywood always catch people’s eyes throughout the world with their outstanding scenes and wonderful plots. Yet the development of our domestic movies still has a long way to go.
As what has been discussed above, we can come to the conclusion that both the movies and TV programs from our own country and others have advantages from different respects so as to attract audiences. In short, individuals are encouraged to have their own choices to meet their needs.
