Do you learn better by yourself or with a teacher?

Hi, please check it  thanks …

The question ‘how to learn’ comes to my mind from time to time and I answer it differently depending on the situation. It is related to some factors like finance, subject, my knowledge in this field etc. But I should confess that it is easier to study with a teacher than alone, because he/she serves like a guide and rescuer in the unknown country or a torch in the dark.

First of all, a teacher is an expert in the field that I am interested in. Of course, I could overcome the long and hard way to my goal alone, but it would take me more time and energy. I would walk around in the search for answers to my numerous questions without anybody to answer. A teacher could be very useful in this situation. He/she could stop my agonizing pursuit and facilitate the studying process. For example, at present I study French independently. I have stuck in phonetics for almost three months, because there are many unclear issues that I cannot clarify for myself. If I had a tutor, I would already have completed this stage.

Second, a teacher has already passed this road, which I am trying to overcome. Therefore, he/she knows how better to cope with obstacles and difficulties in this way. He /she could explain to me what materials are more useful and where I could get them. Furthermore, the main problems in studying are conceiving and memorizing. A teacher could help with both. He/she could explain the material in such an easy and interesting way that I would grasp it easily. Further, he/she would load me with a tremendous amount of exercises, which would make me remember the necessary rules.

It should be also mentioned that a teacher forces me to be more responsible and accurate. When I study alone, I could put off making assignments and would not be able to keep up with my schedule. Certainly, I am not lazy person, but sometimes daily chores and problems make me tired out so that I give up my plans. With a teacher I would not behave in this way. I would spend all night to complete my homework so that not to be ashamed of him/her at the lesson.

Of course, there were moments in my life when I had to study by myself. For instance, during preparation for university my parents had financial problems and did not manage to pay to all tutors who I needed. I studied history, Azeri language and literature independently. I took notes of my friends, who went to the tutors and asked them questions. But it was very hard and tedious practice.

Taking into consideration all of these reasons I choose studying with a teacher rather than by myself, because it is more convenient and effective way than groping for knowledge in the darkness.
