What is the difference between the term Pledge & Hyphothecation?

These are legal terms to do with property purchase.
I am no expert so this could well be wrong but my understanding is that ‘Pledge’ relates to possessing the movable property whereas ‘Hyphothecation’ relates to the possession of immovable property.
