Discounted fare

In many places (including trains, buses, planes etc) we find that children are allowed some discount (often 50%) on tickets. What do you call these discounted tickets?

(In India, I hear everyone using ‘ Half Ticket ’ which sounds rather inappropriate to me)

(I shall be glad to hear the answer from different nationals. Thank you, friends.)

They call them discount tickets. I looked it up on the internet, since I didn’t know myself. I hope this is helpful.

Thank you, Masme. But let’s also see what others have to say.

But, of course, let’s

I also understand that ‘half-priced ticket’ can be used. What do you say about it?

Hi Anglophile,

I would say it’s acceptable, but I would use half-price instead of half-priced.

Even in the Oxford dictionaries it is written as ‘LOW-PRICED EDITION’.

Yes, I know, however, I’ve seen “half-price” all over the internet, especially on travel agencies’ sites. So, let’s just say that both are acceptable, but you don’t always have to follow grammatical conventions.
