Difference between House and Home?

Hello, how are you?

I love Saturdays, and you?

Thanks in advance!

My questions:

1.- Could you tell me the difference between
House and Home?. Sometimes I don?t know
which one to use.

For instance:

“My HOUSE/HOME is full of mice”

Can I use both terms in this sentece?

Give some example in which you can only use
house or home, please.

2.- Have LOST SOUL and ANIMA got the same meaning?

3.- “A shot ON/IN her head”
I hesitate about which preposition I
must use. I think is IN, but I am not sure.
Help me, please.

Thanks a million!

Jes?s

Hi Jesus

  1. You can say either house or home. I’d probably choose house, however.

  2. The word anima would probably mainly be used by psychologists. (And I’m not a psychologist.)
The word soul would be the word used by “normal” people like us.

  3. If you’re talking about a “bullet from a gun” when you write “a shot”, then I would say:
He died from a shot to the head. (noun)
    – OR –
He was shot in the head. (passive verb)

Or do you mean some other kind of shot?

Amy

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it.

I still have one doubt.

Soul is more commonly used, but
If I add that adjective “lost”, it means
a soul that lives in the purgatory, doesn?t it

Have a wonderful Saturday night!

Jes?s

Hi Jesus

A lost soul is someone who is severely “damaged” or ruined, i.e., that person can no longer be helped. It could be morally, physically, or maybe even emotionally. A “lost soul” hasn’t necessarily died and “gone to live with the devil” in pergatory, a lost soul could also be a person who finds himself in a living hell.

Amy

Thanks, Amy!.

You make English clearer for me!

Thanks indeed!

Hello everybody,

What’s the differences between “house” and “home”?

Thanks.

Good morning again Rosario.

A house is a dwelling of many sorts.

A home is where you live.

Kitos.

Hi dear,

*Home refers to a dwelling place together with the family or social unit that occupies it; a household, however; *house refers to a structure serving as a dwelling for one or more persons, especially for a family.

Hi,

It’s useful to note that ‘house’ is essentially the structure/the building. ‘Home’ on the other hand is a concept/an image of the place where you live.

Alan

Thank you so much for Kitosdad, Moslemam and Alan.
