Difference between "contest" and "conversation"

What is the difference between “contest” and “conversation”?

Thanks.

A contest is some kind of competition while a conversation is a discussion or a talk.

As Torsten has aptly defined the difference, there is little for me to add but I am puzzled why you should choose two totally unrelated words. Did you mean ‘contestation’ was the word to compare with ‘contest’?

Yes, Alan, you’re right.

I meant “contestation" vs "contest”.

It’s a word I have not seen before to tell you the truth. I checked for you and I suggest that ‘contest’ is the more commonly used word to describe a competition often in sport between two teams or individual players, between two people in a chess match, between rival political leaders to try to convince their supporters. ‘Contestation’ is a word used in sociology when different sections of society are in opposition to one another depending on their place within society.

I’ve tried to merge both topics here:

Perhaps, yes, Alan. Both will then relate to each other to a good extent.
