day

  1. How is your day today? I hope you have a good day.
  2. How was your day today? I hope you had a good day.
    I think both are correct.
    But which one is better?

#2 is OK if it is said at the end of the day.

In #1 there seems to be a mismatch between the two parts. “How is your day today?” implies that the day is in progress, whereas “I hope you have a good day” implies that the day is ahead.
