Comma after "realistic"?

The MP for Iskandar Puteri said DAP was not abandoning Anwar for Dr Mahathir but was being realistic given the current political situation.

Should there be a comma after “realistic”?

Thanks.

Yes, I’d say. The comma indicates a pause and avoids confusion.
The word given functions like a preposition here meaning considering, assuming etc enabling us to add another thought.
If you begin the sentence with Given, which is a more common practice, you will tend to put a comma after the word ‘situation’.
