My CLX-3170FN is a multi-color laser printer. Now it says that the cyan cartridge is empty and the printer doesn’t work anymore. However, I want to print in black only. The black cartridge is new.

Undoubtedly, but the manufacturers prefer ‘profiable’ to ‘reasonable’.

Torsten, your Samsung printer needs new cyan cartridge. They chip every cartridge, and you can’t make it work if any cartridge is empty (others irrelevant). It’s about $25.
