can, will be able to

  1. He lost a leg in the accident. But with a new artificial one, he ___ walk again.
    (A) can (B) will be able to
  2. I’m hard-of-hearing but if I get a deaf-aid I ___ hear everything people say.
    (A) can (B) will be able to
What are the answers to the above questions?

With #1, it could be either. It’s not clear whether he already has the new leg, or may be getting one.

With #2, although you’ll no doubt hear “can” – the use of the “if” leads me to use “will be able to.”
