Can I use "no other" with a plural noun? If yes, how should I use it?

In the following sentence, why is ‘no other’ used with a plural noun? Is it grammatical?

It was their good fortune that no other comedians had yet been given the chance to mine the surreal in quite the same way.

Yes, ‘no other’ can be followed by a singular as well as a plural.
