But where your company takes hold of me and leads me, you must be your own judge.

Please, can one make this more explicit? Thank you so much in advance.

“But where your company takes hold of me and leads me, you must be your own judge.”

More context is needed. As it stands what you have quoted is unclear.

Thank you for your helps.
The text is from Alain Badiou’s talk in 1990’is. I think the previous paragraph would help to get meaning. i quote:

“Shall I accomplish here a sort of speculative parricide? What brings me here is that, as the author of a Manifesto for Philosophy, of a son of Plato, of a son of parricide. This criminal heredity may govern a repetition. no doubt, what protects me from this is that I am skeptical about the coNtemporary proclamation of the end of philosophy, that I demand the modesty of one additional step, and thus, with parricide being the contemporary currency of thought, filial respect appears singular.
BUT WHERE YOUR COMPANY TAKES HOLD OF ME AND LEADS ME, YOU MUST BE YOUR OWN JUDGE.”

Ah, it’s philosophical twiddle-twaddle. No wonder it didn’t make sense.
