Big head

Dear Ozzy,

I could imagine how many hours your online course is absorbing. Don’t forget I was a teacher me also, when I was in my school I forgot my family utterly. For example not once happened to me that my husband asked me to set a phone call to rights in my break. But I was so absorbed with my work that I never could do it. I forgot. And I will never forget that when I returned home I need min: a half an hour to recollect the things what I had to do in my household. I said always: I needed a brain washing.

I would very happy to learn in your course. I am sure it is very good.

Take care:
Kati

Kati,

I’m very glad to see your letter .

From your words I can imagine you’re very happy and your husband love you very much ,he care about you so much that he scolded you .

Never put anything on the burner is the best way to avoid the fire in the kitchen . I learned it from your experience .

Will you learn in Ozzy’s course ? I think it must be very interesting and useful . Ozzy is a pretty good teacher , I admire him very much . He always very kind and patient .

Please give my wishes to your husband ,

Jess

Dear Majibur, Kati and Jessi (and readers of this thread),

I feel very flattered by your words.

I have been offered a second course online, simultaniously to the one I am currently teaching.

The participants of these courses are teachers, who are being prepared for a diploma in teaching English, a government project.

For me it is very useful to have those ones on my CV.

Kati, I know what you mean being a teacher in relation to free time, my wife has been telling me to work less as I do not have much time to go to the cinema or to a restaurant as often as she likes.

On the other hand she understands that these online courses are the future; good opportunities do not come every day.

Teaching time management modules recently has helped me organise my time better too. ; - )

Jessi, I am extremely happy you took the decision to go for the other job, this will make a huge difference in the future as you will get involved in projects at higher positions.

I hope to see you in Skype soon. : - )

Majibur, I have some time now to write here on the forum. Since two years I am eating less and less meat. I prefer to have salads with carrots, tomotoes; lettuce, avocado and Nopales among others.

The nopales I planted in the garden are growing steadily.

I am off now,

Take care all of you.

Warm regards,

Ozzy

Dear Ozzy,

I am happy to hear that though your job is very exhausting you are getting well on your online courses. I believe you that these online courses are the future. There are some ones what I occasonally listen to.

My favorit one is ESL.Jennifer, she is very good. As she has a Russian husband, ( she taught in Moscow also), and he can very well how to teach English to a foreign person. I think she taught very well to speak her husband.
Second: Lernamericanenglish.com
Third: EnglishVid.com

If I had more time I could listen to them more frequently.

Teaching is a very concentrated job When I used to teach ,people envied me that I was at home at 2 o’clock. But only who knows how much tireing job is? Only who used to teach „once upon a time”. You have to prepare you can’t find out there what would you like to teach etc. etc.

It is good that you have a new teaching time managment modules. You have to find time for going out with your wife.

I wish you every success!

Kati

Hello Kati,

I agree with you that those courses are the future, for that reason I am investing a lot of time in them.

The internet is a wonderful source of teaching material, the art is to find useful material quickly and adapt that to the purpose of your class.

Having to teach nine to ten hours a day at times, has helped me to think quickly and use similar (additional) material for different classes, by adjusting the activities according to the level.

I posted a message with regard to “New Year’s Resolutoions” under the category “What do you want to talk about?”

It is interesting.

Regards,

Ozzy

Hello Ozzy,

I thought I would share with you this letter. It is very moving, isn’t it? If somebody misses to get Chaucer…

Have a good day:

Dear Jess,

I thought of you because I baked Scotch Pies from an English recipe. They were very good.
Here is the recipe there are useful words in it.
Large numbers of Scotch Pies are sold in Scotland every day -they are original “fast food” and are often sold at the half-time interval at football (soccer) matches. Manly bakers have their own recipes and add spices to give additional flavour - there is now an annual competition for the best Scotch Pie.

Ingredients ( for 8-10 pies)

meat filling: 1.500 g (or two cups) lean lamb, minced 2. pinch of nutmeg 3. salt and pepper 4. gravy

hot water pastry: 1.500g (or four cups) plain flour 2. 175 g ( or 3/4 cup) lard 3. 225 ml (or 3/4 cup) water 4.a pinch of salt 5. milk for glazing

You will also need glasses/ or jars, approximately 7.5-8.5 cm in diameter to shape the pie.

Preparation:

1. Create the filling by mixing the minced lamb, spice and seasoning.
2. Make the pastry by sifting the flour and salt into a warm bowl. Make a well in the centre of the flour. Melt the lard in a scant(= not very much) measure of water and, when it is bubbling, add to the flour and mix thoroughly. Take a small amount and form into a ball - and keep the rest warm while making each pastry case. This is done by rolling a suitable amount for each pie and shaping the crust round the base of a glass or jar approximately 7.5-8.5 cm in diameter. Make sure there are no cracks in the pastry. As the pastry cools and gets cool, remove the glass and continue untill you have about a quarter of the pastry left to make the lids.
3Fill the cases with meat and add the gravy to make the meat moist.
4. Roll the remaining pastry and use the glass to cut the lids. Wet the edges of the lids, place over the meat and press down lightly over the filling. Pinch the edges and trim. Cut a small hole in the centre of the lid (to allow the steam to escape).
5.Glaze with milk and bake for about 45 minutes at 140 Celsius degree. If the pie are not eaten immediately, they can be stored in the fridge, but always ensure they are properly reheated before eating.

(I changed only one: I simmered the lamb on a little of olive oil so I had gravy also.)

Bye:
Kati

Hello majibur,

I always enjoy your contributions as you have a unique writing style and manage to encourage people in many ways to do the extra mile.

It has been really interesting the online diploma course I am teaching at the moment (lasts 9 months in total) and I have taken up another language development course, which has lead to hardly having time to relax. The language development course finishes at the beginning of December.

It is seven days a week, besides my other Face to Face classes at companies, alltogether about 82 hours a week, plus commuting time. Commuting in Mexico City is about 3 to 4 hours daily.

My motto is that you can only achieve more when you are 100% dedicated.

Kind Regards,

Ozzy

Hello Ozzy,

With warm wishes for a Merry Christmas, my best to you: Kati

Dear Ozzy,

I think of you lot, I know how much you work and I fear for you. When I changed my slogan you caught sight of it and you saw into my heart. Since I found a new road, it is not same which on I used to be. I lost something I have to admit.

But you changed your slogan, you also. I can’t see into your heart only I try to get out its meaning. What does it mean?
“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”
(Mark Twain)
Can its synonyms be the next ones?
Judging by appearance can be misleading. Or … Don’t judge a book by its cover. Or: All that glitters is not gold.

But don’t forget: A friend in need is a friend indeed. There are few people who can be a true friend, we can be disappointed several times, but nevertheless I believe there are true friendship.

Take care:
Kati

Hello Jessi,

I don’t know why you cannot enter the page, I will send you the link by email.

I feel that I have met a wonderful friend in you on this site.

This site has not only helped me practice with high quality exercises, but also get in touch with great people.

I also would like to thank all the volunteers and others who helped me with my doubts and enable people with low resources to get access to learning English.

See you online and in Skype.

Ozzy ; - )

Hello Kati,

I also have found in you a very special person; you are very honest and warm hearted.

I wish you a merry Christmas and all the best in 2012.

My slogan is based on interpretation; two people can see the same thing and “observe” it differently.

This also counts for situations in which you have to make a decision; if you are not concentrated you might make the wrong decision.

What you say about friends: I absolutely agree; what’s more, I always prefer to have few friends as it is easier to discover who the true ones are.

In my opinion friends also have different purposes; there are friends with whom you converse regarding intellectual subject, some to talk about politics, ecological projects, while others are perfect to go and have a beer with at a bar.

I wanted you to give a tip:

Remember this: “Getting angry at others is a choice you yourself make; you want to feel that way as a result of the things they did to you.”

Especially on the internet situations can turn ugly when not dealt with the best way.

I have experienced some issues among my virtual students and the best is to politely defend yourself once and not to get back to it afterwards.

It has helped for the ones who had some friction at a time to get along well later on.

It is difficult to express yourself with the correct words and structure in a foreign language and for the other to interpret the exactmessage you intended to send.

Warm regards from a sunny and warm Mexico City.

Ozzy

Hello Ozzy,

I think of you lot ; because the Mexican and the Argentinian state bankruptcies are mentioned every day in our country. Why? Because it is prospective a Hungarian bankruptcy. We begin to know what will mean a state bankruptcy.

You occurred to me, and I begin understand why you have to work so much after a bankruptcy.

This world is so big that we know very little about the political situation of remote countries.I admit to you that I heard only now that in these two countries were a state bankruptcy.

Can I ask you what happens when a country goes bankrupt.?

I know that our Central Bank is desperately trying to halt, but the government want to abolish the independence of the National Bank and lays his hands on its safety reserve for extending his power. The EU didn’t consent to it, but they codified the bill that there will be a superior government organization above the National Bank. They told Barruso - they think that he doesn’t see through their tricks - that they won’t intervene in the National Bank’s measures in this year.

(Namely when we became EU members we sidned an agreement that the independence of the National Bank will be invulnerable. ) EU and Barruso, Hillary Clinton wrote letters that they do not codify this bill, but they carried out.

Nobody believe that they will keep their promise, they want to get the IMF bank loan. And after they think that they can do what they want.

Today will be a very big demonstration.

Nobody knows anythinng.

TAKE CARE:
Kati
