Are these sentences natural? Sept 11

Hi,

Are these sentences natural to a native ear?

[color=blue]1. By when do we have to send this to you?

  1. By what time do we have to send this to you?

  2. Once I fell asleep in the class on the first day of school.

Thanks,
MG

In conversational English, the first two sound stilted to me. I think most people would move “by” to the end. Neither form looks great to me in polished formal writing, so I think I would try to rephrase the sentences in that case.

#3 sounds more natural to me if “the class” is changed to “class” (“in class” is a set form).

Dozy,
Are these sentences OK?

  1. When do we have to send this to you?
  2. What time do we have to send this to you?

They would be used conversationally but ‘When should we send this to you?’ and ‘What time should we send this to you?’ are better options.

natural to a native ear?

Better Bee.

kind regards.

It’s wise to learn Natural English direct from the British teachers. More efficient and effective.

It’s wise to be time and cost effective.

Why bother learning English from a Chimpanzee who knows some English.

The chimp will teach you chimpanzeeIzed English and charge you more.

But that’s fair? British English 100$+ Chimp English 100$= 200$ in total.

Have fun!
