Are people more likely to be productive and successful when they ignore...

Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment
below. In order to be the most productive and successful people that we are capable of being, we must be willing to ignore the opinions of others. It is only when we are completely indifferent to others’ opinions of us—when we are not concerned about how others think of us—that we can achieve our most important goals.
Assignment: Are people more likely to be productive and successful when they ignore the opinions of others? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

MY ESSAY:
People are more likely to be productive and successful when they ignore the opinions of others because others’ opinions of us strongly influence our behaviour in every situation.

First, people are afraid of others’ judgement because people would like that others would always have an excellent opinion of them but this fear can modify the way they work or the way they perform an action. For example, if a woman that works in a office feels that her colleagues think that she’s a bad mother because she works 10 hours a day, she is more likely to be affected by this idea and maybe she will think all the day that if she is at work she can’t be with her children and, consequently, she won’t be totally focused on her job and it will be difficult for her to do his job in an excellent way.

Second, it’s true that others’ opinion is often important when we are going to take a decision but it’s also true that their idea can put us in difficulty because it can be totally the contrary of the our, it can put lots of doubts or conflicts in our mind and so all this can make our decision more difficult than before our request of consult.

Third, when we are not concerned about how others think of us we can achieve easier our goals because we are totally focused on ourselves and on our job and our energy are all canalized in only one direction without any external interference.

In conclusion, people must be able to ignore others’ opinion even if sometimes it’s difficult because we’re always in touch with other people in our daily life but if people will go straight on their own way they will be able to achieve their goal in an easier and faster way.
