Hello there;
I’ve just come across this sentence “There isn’t any problem.”
I wonder why singular verb and singular countable noun is used with"any".shouldn’t it have been
“there aren’t any problems” instead?
Thank you all.

Hello there;
I’m really mixed up whether to use a singular or plural verb with ‘a pair of’,“a couple of”.
a couple of glasses are or is on the table???
a couple has or have made a complaint???
Thank you all.
a couple of glasses are… (glasses - plural)
a couple has… / a couple of people have… (‘Couple’ alone is regarded as a singular entity. Once you add a noun, it generally becomes plural. Many English speakers would use the plural though.)
