- Raman watched his brother come/came home.
Which should I use: come or came?
I think the past participle ‘come’ is the right choice. Am I correct? - News came in of/about the massacre in Rwanda.
In this sentence either ‘of’ or ‘about’ can be used.
Am I correct?
You are correct.
Hi Bev,
By the way, Allifathima said that “come” is the past participle in that sentence, but I read somewhere that it’s the (bare) infinitive.
Just wanted to make sure, do you agree that “come” is the past participle in that sentence?
Thanks.
I just meant use of ‘come’ was correct, not ‘came’.
Someone posted these.
a. Five years have been passing since his father died.
b. One year has been passing …
My suggestions,
a. It’s been five years since his father died.
b. It’s been five years since the death of his father.
c. His father died five years ago.
To use “has/have been passing since…” is totally incorrect. Am I right in saying this?
Lots of thanks
Just as I said in the thread you mention.
What about the message #5?
Thanks
