already

Hello everybody,

Please let me know if there is a difference in the meaning of sentences:

My sister had been ill for several days already when I learnt about it. AND
My sister had already been ill for several days when I learnt about it.

Can we place ALREADY at the end of the sentence or it is better to place it after the auxiliary verb?

Thanks!

I think both are correct, however we usually see already put after the auxiliary rather than other positions in grammar book so it’s better to put it right after the auxiliary, I think.
