all/whole

  1. Where were you sleeping the whole night?
  2. Where were you sleeping the all night?
I hope both are correct. Please confirm.
Can I say: Where are you sleeping the whole night?

The second, I think it should be “Where were you sleeping all night?” (no “The”).
and We cannot say “Where are you sleeping the whole night?”. Just my opinion. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with Waiyin’s view on #2. I think #1 is correct, but it does sound just a bit unnatural. Still, “Did you sleep there the whole night?” sounds very natural to me, although I cannot really explain the difference.

Sentence #2 corrected by our colleagues is ok and I’d also say:
Where were you sleeping the entire night?
