all the patience

I would like know the meaning of the next sentence.
He has all the patience of a boiling tea kettle.

Hi Wowenglish,

This type of remark is said to be sarcastic. In other words you are being critical of someone. A boiling kettle is very active and busy as it reaches this very hot point. If you are saying that someone has all (totally) the patience of this boiling kettle. you are saying that they have no patience at all. They cannot remain calm but are very excited and cannot wait for what is going to happen next.
