Are these sentences with the given meanings:

[color=red]1-I know Jeff early in the morning but I am getting to know him late at night.
Meaning: I know how Jeff is early in the morning but I am getting to know how he is late at night.

[color=indigo]2-We were talking about Jeff early in the morning.
Meaning: We were talking about how Jeff is early in the morning.

[color=red]3-I know Harry at the gym but now I am getting to know him at work.
Meaning: I know how Harry is at the gym but now I am getting to know how he is at work.

[color=indigo]4-We were talking about Jean at the office.
Meaning: We were taling about how Jean is at the office. (Jean as she is at the office.)

  1. has that meaning, but seems a very odd way to phrase it. I would suggest:
    I know what Jeff is like early in the morning (I would use ‘first thing in thwe morning’ in this context) but I’m getting to know what he’s like late at night.

  2. gives the impression that this is the time of day you were talking about him.
    We were talking about what Jess is like first thing in the morning.

My observances above also apply to 3 and 4.
