A easygoing teacher vs a strict teacher

The other day, my brother, who studies in the middle school, told me that he felt the class time was too hard to spend because his teacher was incredibly strict. Nowadays, Opinions are various towards whether a strict teacher is helpful to students’ studying or not. Some people hold the view that only when motivated by teachers will students study hard. On the surface, it may seem reasonable, but carefully weighing on the mind, that is untrue. As far as I am concerned, although there may be one or two disadvantages to easygoing teachers, there are far more advantages.

First of all, some minor disadvantages to easygoing teachers include both a lack of restricting by rule and the fact that students will pay attention on the teachers more than the knowledge. Once teachers make jokes with students frequently, students will shape the idea that this teacher is our friend and they will not be punished even though do something wrong. Another drawback involves the possibility that the students may concentrate on the jokes made by teacher rather than the classes. For instance, in order to make the class atmosphere active, the teacher tell a joke to make students relaxed. The students, however, may still think about the joke when the teacher teaches the next point.

Even though there may be one or two disadvantages to the easygoing teachers, the advantages far outweigh them. It is inevitable to be distracted sometimes. But by telling some jokes in the class, the teachers can make the class active, thus attracting the students. For example, in a summer afternoon, the teacher is teaching the history class, some people may cannot help sleeping. At this time, the teacher tells a joke about some people, and the brains of students will become sober immediately. Obviously, students will function more efficiently after relaxing themselves. Hardly can I image what the class will be if the teachers are so strict that they never tell jokes at all. By and large, the humor teachers will play a dramatical role in the studying of students.

Another virtue of easygoing teachers is that the students are able to ask question to teachers without worrying. If the teachers are strict and blame their students often, they will be too afraid to solve their problems by asking for teachers. In stark contrast, the easygoing teachers will enhance the opportunities for students to ask questions as the result that the students consider them as friends. In addition, when asking questions to easygoing teachers, the students can talk and even debate with them, which cannot be done with strict teachers. Correspondingly, the easygoing style of teachers contributes to solving students question.

Taking into all these factors, although I agree there may exist a couple of disadvantages to easygoing teachers, I feel the advantages are more obvious. The easygoing teachers can not only make the class active but also be helpful of solving students’ questions. In my opinion, the two advantages are most significant to make students do better, and the easygoing style of teachers plays a substantial role in the development of students.
