A double-edged sword

  1. The government’s program to export rice is a double-edged sword because it will create a local food shortage.
  2. He refused to accept the national award since being famous would be often a double-edged sword.
  3. You are crossing swords with your brother. Please cool down.
Please correct the above and comment.
    Thanks.
  1. He refused to accept the national award since he felt that being famous would often be a double-edged sword.

This sentence is not logical, Fathima. No democratic government can afford to export a commodity which will create food shortage for its people. They will only suspend/stop exporting it. (It can be a ‘Chomskian’ way of generating sentences that are grammatically, not semantically, acceptable)
